Dating back to 1650, this stone-built pub has interior stone walls and painted wood panelling with several areas for dining, whilst in front of the bar with stone-flagged floors and leather settees for those parting in just a drink. It is renowned for its excellent food, with a popular carvery every night. Other food events include Tuesday pie night, Wednesday Steak night, and Friday Surf and Turf night. breakfast is served Saturday morning between 8 and 11 and is popular with walkers visiting the Twywell Dales. An outdoor children's play area is an added attraction. The landlady once run the Mermaid in St Albans. Occasionally stocks a Potbelly beer.
