We last did a SSS including Sunday lunch on 23 October 2022, so taking the heritage bus; we plan to visit Leicestershire border pubs including three on the ale trail (AT). So, we shall be visiting the White Horse (AT), Stoke Albany; Beerhouse (GBG), Market Harborough; George Hotel (AT), Great Oxendon; Bulls Head (AT), Clipston; Wharf Inn (GBG), Welford, and Sheaf (GBG), West Haddon. There will also be the option for a Sunday dinner too. Pick-ups Long Buckby (09:45), Northampton, Wellingborough and Kettering (11:15), returning to Northampton by 19:30. Please book.

Rushden Historical Transport Society, Rushden
Always a favourite, our annual meeting here is aboard the railway coach in the platform at the Rushden Historical Transport Society where six beers including a dark and ciders are always available. Bring your Ale trail card too for a stamp! Meeting starts at 19:30 and with the new format, we hope to have a game of skittles afterwards in the railway carriage.
- RURAL PUB OF THE SEASON PRESENTATION

Griffins Head, Mears Ashby
Our Rural Summer Pub of the Season is awarded to Mark Diamond at the Griffin’s Head (AT), Mears Ashby. Closed for a period a couple of years ago, the pub has since been heavily refurbished into a pleasant cosmopolitan style with an excellent choice and quality of ales. Meet at 19:30 for a presentation to Mark at 20:00

Black Country
Thirty years ago I organised my first social and visited all nine Batham’s pubs on the heritage bus and today, with ownership upto 13, we will visit the new five plus the brewery tap and others, including Sarah Hughes too! Limited places, so please book.

Heritage bus to upto nine Ale Trail pubs including the Stirrup Cup (GBG, AT), Barton Seagrave; Olde Victoria and Dukes (both GBG, AT), Burton Latimer, Snooty Fox (AT), Lowick; Kings Arms (AT), Thrapston; Dukes (GBG, AT), Woodford and Wellingborough. Outline pick-ups are Northampton (10:30); Wellingborough and Kettering (11:45), returning to Northampton by 19:30. Please book.

Rutland
Our sixth “Out of County Experience” takes us to Rutland featuring five GBG pubs including two breweries. Not only that, we will also be making presentations to two of our own breweries who won awards at the Northampton County Beer Festival. So, on the way we will stop for an hour at Nene Valley Brewery to present them with two awards, Session Stout with Egyptian Cream winning the category and also the Overall Champion Beer of the Festival. Afterwards, we make our way to Kings Cliffe Brewery where we present Jez with two awards; Session Pales with 5C, and Session Bitters with 66 Degrees. Afterwards we will continue to Rutland to the Railway (GBG), Ketton, home to the Bakers Dozen Brewery. Oakham is next with three GBG pubs including the Grainstore tap. Finally, we will make a call at the Exeter Arms (GBG), Uppingham as we make our way back to the county. Pick-ups Northampton (09:15), Wellingborough and Kettering (10:15). Return times are expected to be Northampton by 19:30. There will be no food arranged. A donation will be requested. Joining instructions will be sent on Wednesday 26th August.
- BRANCH MEETING AND CLUB OF THE YEAR PRESENTATION

Kettering Midland Band Social Club, Kettering
We make a return visit to the Midland Band Club for not only the Branch meeting, but also to present David Bellamy with our Club of the Year Award 2025. Last year the club made it through to the final four in the national competition, so let’s see how far Dave can go this! With seven beers on, including a dark, and now four ciders too, we will hold the meeting in the darts lounge. Meeting starts at 19:30 with the presentation taking place during the beer break.

Manchester
A date for your diary as we make our way to Manchester by train for a day visiting historical pubs. Very similar to our November London Day Out, but with better and cheaper beer and pubs not visited for a long time! Train fare around £30 with railcard.
