  • BRANCH SOCIAL – GREAT BRITISH BEER FESTIVAL – BIRMINGHAM NEC Friday 8 August 2025 Birmingham NEC

    With the GBBF moving to Birmingham NEC, it’s an easy hour’s trip on the train, door to door. Several branch members are going on a variety of days, so I have selected Friday in case you have no preference. The festival opens at 12:00, so do the 10:40 from Northampton (arrives Birmingham International at 11:33) and join the queue. Members can buy in advance on-line for £6. Either meet at the CAMRA Bookshop at 12:30, or call me on 07723 858069 so we can let you know where we are seated.

  • ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL – SUMMER SATURDAY SAUNTER 16 Saturday 9 August 2025 East Northants

    Heritage bus to upto nine Ale Trail pubs including the Stirrup Cup (GBG, AT), Barton Seagrave; Olde Victoria and Dukes (both GBG, AT), Burton Latimer, Snooty Fox (AT), Lowick; Kings Arms (AT), Thrapston; Dukes (GBG, AT), Woodford and Wellingborough pubs. Outline pick-ups are Northampton (10:45) and Kettering (11:30), returning to Northampton by 19:30. Please book.

  • TOWN PUB OF THE SEASON PRESENTATION – NORTHAMPTON Wednesday 13 August 2025 Black Prince, Northampton

    Our Town Pub of the Season for Summer 2025 is awarded to the Black Prince (GBG), Northampton, where Phil and Sinead have been in charge since 2024. Also down stairs in the cellar a microbrewery has been producing since May. The venue also has a large garden which we can use if the summer weather permits. Potbelly beers also heavily feature on the bar. The presentation will take place at 20:00.

  • BRANCH BREWERY PRESENTATION – TOWCESTER Wednesday 27 August 2025 Towcester Mill Brewery Tap, Towcester

    Following the Northampton County Beer Festival judging of the county’s breweries, we are pleased to make a presentation to Towcester Mill whose Black Fire was judged best in the Strong Stouts category. Tonight is also their popular vinyl night, so hang around for some decent vibes! Meet at 19:30 with the presentation at 20:00.

  • HERITAGE BUS TRIP “OUT OF COUNTY EXPERIENCE – RUTLAND PANTHER” Saturday 30 August 2025 Rutland

    Our sixth “Out of County Experience” takes us to Rutland featuring five GBG pubs including two breweries on a heritage bus. Not only that, we will also be making presentations to two of our own breweries who won awards at the Northampton County Beer Festival. So, on the way we will stop for an hour at Nene Valley Brewery to present them with two awards, Session Stout with Egyptian Cream winning the category and also the Overall Champion Beer of the Festival. We will also join the Peterborough Branch who will be making their won award to the Brewery. Afterwards, we make our way to Kings Cliffe Brewery where we present Jez with two awards; Session Pales with 5C, and Session Bitters with 66 Degrees. Afterwards we will continue to Rutland to the Railway (GBG), Ketton, home to the Bakers Dozen Brewery. Oakham is next with three GBG pubs including the Grainstore tap. Finally, we will make a call at the Exeter Arms (GBG), Uppingham as we make our way back to the county. Pick-ups Northampton (09:15), Wellingborough and Kettering (10:15). We can also pick-up in Oundle with a Corby drop-off for the X4. Return times are expected to be Northampton by 19:30. There will be no food arranged.   • ANNIVERSARY BEER, CIDER and GIN FESTIVAL – LONG BUCKBY Friday 5 – Sunday 7 September 2025 Long Buckby Rugby Club, Long Buckby

    We join forces to support Long Buckby Rugby Football Club who are also celebrating their anniversary, but 150 years, so 200 years together with a bumper festival featuring 24 ales, plus ciders and gin along with entertainment at all sessions. Come along at anytime (opens 5-11 Fri, 11-12 Sat, 11-7 Sun), but the official branch meet-up will the less busy opening night. So, pop down to the station and catch the 1640/1710/1740/1806/1840 etc train and back on the 2204/2226/2237/2256/2348 for a ten minutes trip.

  • BRANCH MEETING AND CLUB OF THE YEAR PRESENTATION Monday 15 September 2025 Kettering Midland Band Social Club, Kettering

    We make a return visit to the Midland Band Club for not only the Branch meeting, but also to present David Bellamy with our Club of the Year Award 2025. Last year the club made it through to the final four in the national competition, so let’s see how far Dave can go this year! With seven beers on, including a dark, and now four ciders too, we will hold the meeting in the darts lounge. Meeting starts at 19:30 with the presentation taking place during the beer break.

  • ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL – MANCHESTER HISTORICAL PUBS Friday 19 September 2025 Manchester

    A date for your diary as we make our way to Manchester by train for a day visiting historical pubs. Very similar to our November London Day Out, but with better and cheaper beer and pubs not visited for a long time! Train fare around £30 with railcard.

  • ANNIVERSARY GOOD BEER GUIDE LAUNCH – NORTHAMPTON Thursday 25 September 2025 Albion Brewery Bar, Northampton

    With the national launch of the Good Beer Guide today, this year we again have our own launch hosted by Phipps Brewery at the Albion Brewery Bar. For any member wishing to purchase the indispensable GBG, a limited number will be available at a discounted price of £12 (rrp £16.99, cash only). The Good Beer Guide is the UK’s best-selling beer and pub guide and it continues to represent the best of the best in the brewing and hospitality industry with 4,500 pubs, bars, and clubs selected. With six beers including a dark and cider too, there will be something for everyone. Meet at 19:00.

  • Beer Festival - Bedford Wednesday 1 – Saturday 4 October 2025 Corn Exchange, Bedford

    The 47th Bedford Beer Festival takes place this week so a few of us should be there for the Friday lunchtime session. The venue is the Corn Exchange, St Paul’s Sq, Bedford (town centre venue, bus stn 5min, rail 10min). Admission for CAMRA members is £2. Opening time is 12:00, so aim to be here around this time. On the bar will be over 100 ales and ciders. Buses from Northampton are from Bay 14 at 9:50 (Bedford 11:20, visit Spoons on the way!) and 11:50 (13:20). Return buses are 16:10 and 18:10

  • ANNIVERSARY SOCIAL BREWERY BEER FESTIVAL – KETTERING Saturday 18 October 2025 Potbelly Brewery Tap, Kettering

    The winter Potbelly Beer Festival is already upon us so we will hold our popular social here early on the Saturday afternoon and into the evening. We will also take the opportunity to present awards for S.O.S winning the Brown & Red Ales, Old Ales and Strong Milds category and Yeller Belly scooping the Premium Pale, Blond and Golden Ales category at the Northampton County Beer Festival. A number of the new Good Beer Guide will be available at a discounted price of £12 (rrp £16.99). Around thirty beers including regulars from the brewery, plus a wide range of cider too. The actual brewery entrance is on Sidney Street, Kettering. Meet from 14:00. Live entertainment and food also available. Cash only.

  • ANNIVERSARY LUNCH - BRIXWORTH Wednesday 29 October 2025 George, Brixworth

    It’s been a great year celebrating the Branch’s 50th Anniversary which began with a formal luncheon in October 2024. So, to end, I have arranged an informal lunch where it all began – at the George, Brixworth. Just pop along to the library room but if you wish to have lunch, please let me know so that I can reserve you a place. Start at 12:00, although lunch will be reserved for 13:00.

  • BRANCH MEETING – OUNDLE Monday 10 November 2025 Ship

    We have our first branch meeting in the former Peterborough Branch area at the Ship Inn, Oundle where we hope our new transferring members will attend. This Grade II listed 16th century building has low ceilings and, two bars, and many adjoining rooms where we will hold our meeting. Meeting starts at 19:30.
