After 39 events, CAMRA’s Games & Collectables are calling it a day for the National Breweriana Auction. It's a very specialist event to run and we can't find new blood to keep it running.

The historic London Welsh RFC are putting on their first beer festival in conjunction with their sponsors, Grey Trees Brewery, and will feature multiple Welsh brewers and will include a barrel-aged porter. Further details about the beer list nearer the time. Entrance is £10 and includes a commemorative glass and two beer tokens (buys a pint). It is proposed that we travel by train which with a railcard is just under £30. If interested, please let me know.

Twice in a week we will be back at the Towcester Mill Brewery Tap (GBG) where Trish will be holding a tutored Beer and Chocolate Pairing Session which will combine five beers with five or more chocolates. Last approximately two hours, the session will hopefully give you some gift ideas for Christmas. This is open to everyone. CAMRA and non-CAMRA members. The minibus has been booked and will cost the usual £8 plus £12 for the session - £20 total. Non-CAMRA members will pay £15 for the session. This covers all the beers and chocolate we will use over the two hours. Towcester Mill has bottled beers which can be purchased on the day to take home. If you are interested in coming to this on the minibus, please contact Richard ku.gro.armac.stnahtron@riahc() to book your place on the minibus and also email Trish at ku.gro.armac.stnahtron@yelkcarb-olp so you can be added to the session. Pay on the day. The tasting session will start at 14:00.

This year we again visit London for the usual mix of historical pubs and GBG pubs that are either new to us or haven’t been visited for a while. The final pubs will be decided upon the issue of the new GBG although the intention is to cross the river for a selection of brewery taps and historical pubs in the Battersea, Wandsworth and Wimbledon areas. Depart on the first off-peak trains with a Group Save discount (3-9 folk) cost is around £28.00, although advance purchase is cheaper with return after 19:00. You will also need an Oyster card or credit card for trains, tube and buses. Alternatively, a day return with a railcard including all buses, tube and rail is £31.70. Please let me know if you intend coming so that I can issue you the day’s itinerary including train times and map. Please book by 16th November.

This year’s Christmas Roman Awayday takes us to York, one of the loveliest Roman cities which still has its city walls intact along with the York Minster. This is also the final weekend of the Christmas Market for anyone who wishes to dip-out on a couple of pubs. With numerous GBGs pubs and a good selection of National Inventory Heritage pubs too, a day is not long enough! With prices for fuel, staff, and coach parking increasing, the larger coach works out at £35 per head. Usual Desborough, Kettering, Wellingborough and Northampton pick-ups. Please book soon to avoid disappointment.
