Woodford Halse Social Club was originally built in 1898 as a Hunting Lodge called the Gorse Hotel. The hotel was used as a base for travellers on hunting trips organised in the local area, utilising the nearby Great Central Railway. Closed during WWI and then again during WWII after which it was sold to a local farmer and not rescued until 1955 when the local railway company purchased it as a private members club for employees. It remained this way until 1970 when it was purchased from the railway company by it’s members and opened to the public where it has since gone from strength to strength.

An imposing mock Tudor building featuring a large L-shaped main bar. To the rear is the largest dance hall in the county which features a spring floor and is capable of holding 400 people.
