A favourite on the calendar is the Good Friday pub crawl around Northampton. Start at the Garibaldi Hotel (15:00-15:50), 19 Bailiff St, NN1 3DX, a popular back street boozer with three different Locale beers to choose from and a nice courtyard. Heading for town, the Lamplighter (16:00-16:50), 66 Overstone Rd, NN1 3JS, food available, followed by the Black Prince, 15 Abingdon Square, NN1 4AE (17:00 to 18:50). The time here is extended due to an Easter Beer Festival. Finally a short walk through the pedestrian area takes us to the Cordwainer (19:00 onwards), The Ridings, NN1 2AQ, a large Wetherspoons with at least eight beers on, including Locales, a dark ale or two, and the usual comprehensive range of food. No need to book, just dip in or out as you please.
